REPORT(H)A - II MEETING. ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGES IN HISTORICAL PERPSPECTIVE

The Centro de História of the Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa (CH-ULisboa) / Center of History of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon and the Instituto de História Contemporânea of the Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa (IHC-FCSH, UNL) / Institute of Contemporary History of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the New University of Lisbon, are pleased to be hosting the II meeting of REPORT(H)A - Portuguese Network of Environmental History, in 2017 Spring.

REPORTHA was created in 2015, following the WCEH 2014 - Second World Congress of Environmental History, held in Guimarães and had the first meeting in 2015, in the scope of the IV CITCEM conference (5-7 november, Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto).

Following these initiatives, the II meeting REPORT(H)A intends to bring together researchers, teachers, students and experts on environmental history from the fields of human, social and natural sciences in order to create synergies among all scholars engaged in environmental history and stimulate the debate on an issue that has gained considerable visibility over the last decades.

The cross cutting conference theme Environmental Changes in Historical Perspective is inscribed in transnational and transdisciplinary approaches, a challenge to the current academic research and debate in environmental sciences and humanities. It aims to be a bridge between different forms of knowledge and between different geographical and social spaces, while putting them into a meaningful context. Thus, the conference welcomes innovative approaches contributing to a lively exchange of ideas and experiences as well as on new perspectives, concepts, methodologies and processes in the field of Environmental History.

In line with the aims of the WCEH 2014, as well as of the International Consortium of Environmental History Organizations (ICEHO) and the first REPORT(H)A meeting, the conference goals are:

- to foster communication and collaboration,

- to share information and disseminate research

- to discuss issues, concerns and challenges relevant to further the development of environmental history.

The conference welcomes all scholars and young researchers to present the output of their research projects or to provide an account of the state of art on a particular issue.

The sessions will be organized by thematic topics, according to individual papers or panel proposals. Works on historical sources, methodologies or the relation between environmental history and society will be most welcome, though proposals can focus a wide range of topics, such as:

II Encontro da REPORT(H)A – DESAFIOS AMBIENTAIS NUMA PERSPECTIVA HISTÓRICA

O Centro de História da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa (CH-FLUL) e o Instituto de História Contemporânea da Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa (IHC-FCSH, UNL) têm o prazer de anunciar a organização conjunta do II Encontro da REPORT(H)A - Rede Portuguesa de Historia do Ambiente, a realizar na primavera de 2017.

A REPORT(H)A foi criada em 2015, na sequência do WCEH 2014 – II Congresso Mundial de História do Ambiente, que teve lugar em Guimarães. O seu primeiro encontro realizou-se na Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto, de 5 a 7 de novembro de 2015, no quadro da IV Conferência do CITCEM. Na sequência destas iniciativas, o II Encontro REPORT(H)A voltará a juntar investigadores, docentes, alunos e peritos das áreas das ciências sociais e humanas e das ciências naturais, criando sinergias entre académicos envolvidos na História do Ambiente, e estimulando o debate sobre este campo académico, que tem vindo a ganhar visibilidade na última década.

Sob o tema transversal Desafios Ambientais numa perspectiva histórica, este encontro inscreve-se numa perspectiva de estudo transnacional e transdisciplinar, um desafio para a investigação, actualmente em debate nas ciências ambientais e nas humanidades. Pretende-se estabelecer pontes entre diferentes formas de conhecimento e entre diferentes espaços geográficos e sociais, analisando-os nos seus contextos históricos. Neste contexto, estimulam-se as abordagens inovadoras que favoreçam uma troca de ideias e experiências de investigação, e permitam discutir novas perspectivas, conceitos, metodologias e processos no campo da História do Ambiente.

No seguimento dos objectivos do WCEH 2014, International Consortium of Environmental History Organizations (ICEHO) e do I Encontro REPORT(H)A, este II Encontro visa:

- promover a comunicação e a colaboração;

- partilhar informação e disseminar os resultados da investigação;

- discutir temas, questões e desafios relevantes para o futuro desenvolvimento da História do Ambiente.

Convidam-se todos os académicos e os jovens investigadores a apresentar os resultados dos seus projectos de investigação ou uma revisão do estado da arte de um tema.

As sessões serão organizadas por temas, de acordo com as propostas apresentadas. Serão acolhidos trabalhos sobre fontes históricas, metodologias ou sobre as relações entre a História do Ambiente e a Sociedade, no contexto de um leque alargado de tópicos, tais como:
